The bulbs have arrived! The village bulb planting will take place on Saturday 19 October starting at 10 am. Will everyone please meet in the village hall where refreshments will be served. It would be helpful if everyone could bring along a trowel (although it is not essential, I'm sure there will be some spare) a small bucket and if possible wear bright or fluorescent clothing. Derby Evening Telegraph Report of Possible Travellers Site at Highfield House, Hulland Ward
Earlier this
week the Derbyshire Evening Telegraph reported that the Derbyshire Dales
District Council had identified five possible sites for development for Travellers. One of the listed sites was Highfield House,
Hulland Ward. It was identified by
market researchers as a possible site due to its suitable size and current
market availability.
Last night
there was a meeting at Matlock to discuss which of the five sites should be
taken forward to the next stage of consultation. The site at Highfield House was ruled out as
it was deemed to be too costly. The site
also identified at the back of Jasmine Cottage, Turnditch has also been
dismissed.

Faster Broadband
Derbyshire County Council is asking all residents to sign up for faster Broadband. At the moment broadband speeds vary greatly depending on your location and rural areas often come off worst. In order to bring high speed broadband, with speeds of up 30mbps, the County Council has launched its digital Derbyshire campaign. All you need to do is click the link: www.derbyshire.gov.uk/digitalderbyshire to sign up to show your support, its a very simple form to complete and the more people that show their support then the more investment there will be in the project and the sooner we will all be able to enjoy faster broadband.
